Off the Kauai coast, Day 2

The merchant marine is tightly aligned to the national security and economic interests of the country. Within this strategic environment, mariners are often crossing path with their military counterparts to extend logistical operations to all corners of the world. Today, we planned and executed our first amphibious and joint logistics over the shore (JLOTS) exercise to familiarize cadets with this expeditionary model of sustainment operations from ship to shore. The TSGB small craft and causeway system were in full operation to move materials and personnel from the ship to an approved beach on Kauai.

Featured in the photos below are the 9, 10, and 12 boats as well as our modular causeway platform.

At the end of the day, all personnel were brought back safely, all vessels were stored back aboard the TSGB, and cadets enjoyed another breathtaking sunset.
