Fall 2020 Impacted Programs

Approval was granted by the California State University Chancellor's Office for continuing program impaction of four Fall, 2020 Cal Maritime degree programs (majors).

Local Admission Priority:

Solano County residents receive a local admission priority in the amount of an addition .10 of a grade point after the Grade Point Average (GPA) of their high school courses and/or college courses is calculated. This raises the admission eligibility score for a Solano County resident by 80 points for high school applicants and by the simple College GPA increase for transfer applicants:


Facilities Engineering Technology and Marine Engineering Technology Impaction Requirements for Fall 2020.

Admission Criteria

All applicants must apply within the October/November application period and complete the application within a timely manner.

Freshman Applicants 

  • All applicants must submit an SAT or ACT score so that an index score can be computed for everyone.
  • The most recent math course (at least algebra II) must be passed with a "C-" or better within five years of the application term 
  • A minimum Math SAT score of 520 or ACT math score of 20 
  • All other basic CSU eligibility requirements must be met.
  • The following items are recommended
    • Completion of a course in pre-calculus (or equivalent course).
    • Completion of a course in physics.
    • Completion of four years of high school math
    • Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to engineering, leadership, and/or the maritime industry

Lower Division Transfer Students

  • The "Golden Two" courses must be completed:
    • A college-level math course (CSU GE area B4) must have been passed with a "C-" or better within five years of the application
    • A college-level English course (CSU GE area A2) must have been passed with a "C-" or better.
    • The following items are recommended
      • Calculus I, C- or better
      • Engineering Physics with a lab, C- or better
      • General Chemistry with a lab, C- or better
      • Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to engineering, leadership and/or the maritime industry
    • All other CSU eligibility requirements for freshmen regarding high school grades/courses and standardized test scores must be met. 
    • A formula including the overall college GPA, the number of completed college courses, the number of completed engineering pre-requisite courses, the high school eligibility index score, and a numerical enhancement for local (Solano County) applicants will be used for transfer applicants to the same program.
    • The following item is recommended: Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to engineering, leadership and/or the maritime industry  

Upper Division Transfer Applicants

  • The "Golden Four" courses must be completed:
    • A college-level math course (CSU GE area B4) must have been passed with a "C" or better within five years of the application.
    • A college-level English course CSU GE area A2) must have been passed with a "C" or better.
    • A "Critical Thinking" course (CSU GE area A3) must have been passed with a "C-" or better.
    • An "Oral Communication" course (CSU GE area A1) must have been passed with a "C-" or better.
  • All of the following courses are also required.
    • Calculus II, C- or better
    • General Chemistry with a Lab, C- or better
    • Engineering Physics II, C- or better
    • Engineering Graphics, C- or better
    • Properties of Materials, C- or better
    • Engineering Statics, C- or better
    • U.S. History (CSU GE equivalent course), C- or better
    • Lower-Division Humanities Elective (CSU GE area C2), C- or better

       

  • All other CSU eligibility requirements must be met.
  • A formula including the overall college GPA, the number of completed college courses, the number of completed engineering pre-requisite courses, and a numerical enhancement for local (Solano County) applicants will be used for transfer applicants to the same program.
  • The following item is recommended: Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to engineering, leadership and/or the maritime industry

 


Marine Transportation Impaction Requirements for Fall 2020

Admission Criteria

All applicants must apply within the October/November application period and complete the application within a timely manner.

Freshman Applicants

  • The most recent math course (at least Algebra II) must have been passed with a C- or better within five years of the application term to be eligible for consideration.
  • All applicants must have received either an SAT Math score of at least 520 or ACT Math score of 20 
  • All other basic CSU eligibility requirements must be met.
  • The following item is recommended: Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to the maritime industry, and/or leadership

Transfer Applicants

  • The most recent math course (at least College Algebra level) must have been passed with a C- or better within five years of the application term to be eligible for consideration.
  • All lower division applicants must submit an SAT or ACT score.
  • All other CSU eligibility requirements must be met.
  • The following item is recommended: Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to engineering, leadership and/or the maritime industry  
  • A formula including the overall college GPA, the number of completed college courses, the high school eligibility index score (for lower division applicants only), and a numerical enhancement for local (Solano County) applicants will be used for transfer applicants to the same program.

 


Mechanical Engineering Impaction Requirements Fall 2020

Admission Criteria

All applicants must apply within the October/November application period and complete the application within a timely manner.

Freshman Applicants

  • All applicants must have received either an SAT Math score of at least 570 or ACT Math score of 23 
  • The most recent math course (at least the immediate pre-requisite to calculus) must have been passed with a C- or better within five years of the application term.
  • All other basic CSU eligibility requirements must be met.
  • The following items are recommended
    • Completion of a high-school course in Physics
    • Completion of four years of high school math
    • Submission of a resume including the applicant's background connected to engineering, leadership and/or the maritime industry

Lower Division Transfer Applicants

  • One of the following must be met.
    • A college-level math course that is a pre-requisite course to calculus must have been passed with a "C-" or better within five years of the application term to be eligible for consideration along with either an SAT Math score of at least 550 from the pre-February, 2016 SAT, a score to be determined from the "new" SAT, or ACT Math score of 23
    • A college-level calculus course must have been passed with a "C-"or better within five years of the application term.
  • All other CSU eligibility requirements must be met
  • The following items are recommended
    • A college-level physics course (calculus-based with lab or engineering physics with lab) passed with a "C-" or better within five years of the application term
    • A college-level chemistry course (with lab) passed with a "C-" or better
    • A college-level calculus III course must have been passed with a "C-" or better within five years of the application term.
    • An engineering properties of materials course must be passed with a "C-" or better. 
    • An engineering statics course must be passed with a "C-" or better.
    • An engineering computer programming course with a "C-" or better
    • A college U.S. History course (CSU GE equivalent course) must be passed with a "C-" or better.
    • A lower-division humanities elective course (CSU GE area C2) with a "C-" or better.

    • An engineering properties of materials course must be passed with a "C-" or better.
    • An engineering statics course must be passed with a "C-" or better.
    • An engineering computer programming course with a "C-" or better
    • A college U.S. History course (CSU GE equivalent course) must be passed with a "C-" or better.
    • A lower-division humanities elective course (CSU GE area C2) with a "C-" or better.
