Public Works contracts are defined as work which involves the erection, construction, alteration, painting, repair or improvement of any state (CSU) structure, building or road or other state improvement of any kind.  Maintenance can be related to public works.

Public Work have thresholds that differ from general CSU contracts and must comply with a variety of laws and requirements, including, but not limited to, prevailing wage,  Department of Industrial Relations, Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) , licensing, insurance.

The CSU maintains standard-form agreements for use on CSU projects to facilitate timely acceptance by all parties and to ensure that various policy and legal requirements are met.
