The Spill Management Simulator uses the Potential Incident Simulation, Control and Evaluation System (PISCES II) software. This software was initially developed by Transas Marine as an exercise management tool for the U.S. Coast Guard. Today, PISCES II is used to train students and working professionals to respond to major spill incidents in order to minimize the impact of that spill on the environment and local economy. It is also used to test and/or develop appropriate area response plans and to improve teamwork and decision-making skills. The PISCES II software interfaces with our bridge simulators to provides a wide range of multi-function response training in logistical and operational management of a variety of potential oil spills in different geographic regions.
